Tree bark is a natural product that remains as waste in wood production. Application and processing are highly dependent on the type of tree bark. Composted tree bark often comes from the Norway spruce and must be composted to obtain a stable product. This product is used by MeeGaa Substrates as an additive to obtain an open airy structure in potting soil mixes.
Non-composted tree bark comes from the Pinus pinaster from Portugal and is very hard and requires no composting. In Portugal, the tree bark or bark is steamed so that the product is 100% disease-free. This raw material is by far the most used by MeeGaa Substrates for orchid mixtures. This bark has various fractions from fine to coarse. Bark, retains more or less water depending on the fraction used. It is a stable material, is not sensitive to shrinkage and therefore brings stability to the structure of the substrates.
