The HortiFootprint Calculator is an innovative software tool based on the HortiFootprint, an internationally agreed methodology for calculating the environmental footprint of horticultural products.
Launched in 2020, the HortiFootprint is a Life Cycle Analysis that covers 16 categories (including carbon footprint, land use and natural resource use), and covers the entire life cycle of ornamental and vegetable production, all the way to the final product. It was developed by Wageningen University in collaboration with MPS and many other organizations working in the sector.
With the HFC, you gain valuable insights into the sustainability of your production. From energy and fertilizers to packaging and CO2 emissions – there are many variables that contribute to the environmental footprint of horticultural production. The HortiFootprint Calculator uses an internationally agreed methodology to measure your farm’s carbon footprint. A scenario analysis feature allows you to quickly and easily calculate the impact of any future changes in your production operations.
There is a growing demand for sustainability in the industry. The HortiFootprint Calculator provides the insights needed to develop and measure a successful sustainability strategy, and to demonstrate your impact to customers.
The HortiFootprint Calculator is designed to be fast and user-friendly. Growers submit data through a simple registration system, and a dashboard provides an instant, clear overview of the results.
For existing LetsGrow.com customers and for growers with MPS-ABC certification, it is even easier, because much of the information needed to calculate the footprint has already been supplied.
